Aristotle's View of Women
It is very clear that Aristotle's view of women was dead wrong. Anyone in their right mind would know that. Women are and always have been more than just unfinished men. What surprises me is that a man who did so much thinking could come to such a conclusion. I think he must have had a huge ego problem to think such a thing. It's almost as if this dude didn't have a mom to raise him right and treat him to respect women. I suppose that's a possibility but respecting women should just come naturally, but unfortunately that's not the case for Mr. Aristotle.
The fact that a large number of the authorities in the novel are men says a lot about philosophy. It also says a lot about the time period in which these philosophers lived. In short, women were not given the same rights of speech that the men were. Even if they were, who of the high and mighty male philosophers would listen to what they had to say? I guess the guy philosophers had some okay things to say but women might have had some cool ideas too.
